The 1997 European Tour of Evita was definitely one of the most exciting and adventurous experiences I’ve ever had. Six months of what I consider “paid vacation,” performing the show each evening to enthusiastic and receptive audiences, while spending my days visiting museums, zoos, and living “the artist’s life.” We had long sit-downs at each venue — 6 weeks in Munich, 4 weeks in Hamburg, 5 weeks in Zurich — allowing some wonderful opportunities to really immerse myself in each city’s sights and sounds. I also spent quite a bit of time traveling, and I tried to hit all of the major sites of interest in each area — the immense castles of King Ludwig II, the concentration camps and ruins of World War II, and even a trip 11,000 feet up to the top of the Swiss Alps! Over the course of six months, I made my way through nine different countries, including Luxembourg and Liechtenstein. The show was wonderful, and the sight-seeing was out-of-this-world. And I’d better not even mention the food!
