A big part of auditioning in New York City is 'understanding your type,' or basically having a sense of the qualities of yourself that are unique and make you the best fit for certain roles. As the years (and auditions) have gone by, I've made my mark by playing the kooky and slightly-off-center characters, leaving the 'leading-man' roles for those other guys. Well, City of Dreams had me front-and-center playing the romantic hero, journeying from one exotic destination to another searching for his true love! It was really a blast to sing the great songs that set the tone for each scene: Styx's "Come Sail Away" in the lost city of Atlantis, "Sun and Moon" from Miss Saigon in Beijing, and even "Nessun Dorma" at the Italian opera in Venice!
