I hadn't even heard of The Goodbye Girl when we started rehearsals, but by the end of the run I realized how much I really enjoyed being a part of this Seaside production. The original show premiered in New York City during the 1993 Broadway season, starring Bernadette Peters and Martin Short. Unfortunately, it was a big flop . . . but it does have a lot of charm and some great songs. I was a basic chorus boy in this one, filling out the crowd scenes and shouting out the tenor notes. Even though I wasn't onstage a lot, I had a good time watching the show from the wings (and doing my crossword puzzles during the long breaks!).
