I didnt know much about Mame before we started rehearsals, but it became one of my favorite shows by the end of the 1993 Seaside season. This was actually the first professional show I ever performed, because Wind in the Willows didnt actually open until Mame was up and running. (Technicalities, technicalities!) I was in the ensemble, although I was thrilled to pieces to actually have ONE line near the beginning of the show . . . Sign here. I remember how I would nervously stand in the wings before my big entrance as the Messenger, trying to say Sign here all sorts of different ways to find the best line reading. Truly hopeless.
