WILBUR, THE NOT-SO-BIG, NOT-SO-BAD WOLF

Role: Wolf

Production Info: Aug. 23-31, 1996 @ Mac-Haydn Theatre
Director: Louis B. Crocco
Choreographer: Cynthia Petrone
Musical Director: Oliver Blatt

Wilbur, the not-so-big, not-so-bad Wolf was the last children’s theatre production of the Mac season, and since I had only been in one of the previous three children’s shows, I was a shoo-in. (It’s all part of the Mac-Haydn experience . . . along with cleaning the toilets!) Wilbur was an especially important show to Lynne, Linda, and Barbara (the producers), because they had written it themselves. Think Into the Woods meets the Big Bad Wolves. The plot centers around Wilbur, a nice little wolf, who gets coerced by two mean wolves to abduct Little Red Riding Hood and then dispose of the Three Pigs. I played a crafty, conniving wolf who tries to confuse Wilbur into doing his dirty work. Things don’t quite work out according to plan, however . . . so guess who has to fall headfirst down the chimney into the Little Pig’s fireplace??? Ouch.
