JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT

Role: Issachar (“Benjamin Calypso” soloist)

Production Info: May 30-June 9, 1996 @ Mac-Haydn Theatre
Director/Choreographer: Dennis Edenfield
Musical Director: Kep Kaeppeler

My first production outside of the Sunshine State! Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was such a great show to get the ball rolling — simple to rehearse and fun to perform. The plot closely follows the Biblical story of Joseph and his Coat of Many Colors. Just add a whole bunch of goofy musical numbers (including a hoe-down and a hip-hop megamix), and you’ve got a pretty good idea of what it’s all about. I played one of Joseph’s many brothers, and I led the reggae-style “Benjamin Calypso” near the end of the show. That’s right . . . this little white boy in a straw hat riffing and belting his heart out. Good thing I don’t take myself too seriously!
