HELLO, DOLLY!

Role: Barnaby Tucker

Production Info: 7/22-8/8/98 @ Galveston Island Outdoor Musicals
Director: Neil Larson
Choreographer: Paula Sloan
Music Director: Art Yelton

Playing Barnaby in Hello, Dolly!, I realized for the first time how much I love being the “second banana.” It’s nice to be able to goof around and have fun . . . to make the audience laugh without having the responsibility of carrying the whole show on your shoulders. This was a really beautiful production — stunning costumes and rich orchestrations, along with a really nice and talented group of performers. I’m probably a bit too tall to play Barnaby in anything other than a stock production, so I’m glad I had the opportunity to perform this fun role!
