Scrooge was my first professional theater job after making the move to NYC! This fully-produced musical version of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol was the second half of a two-act Christmas program entitled Christmas at Whiting (which was performed at the Whiting Auditorium in Flint, Michigan). It was a lot of fun to play a double role in the production — first the timid and shy Bob Cratchit, then a quick costume change into the ethereal Ghost of Christmas Past, and then back to Bob — and I even played one of the dancing ghouls in the Ghost of Christmas Future section! The whole show was very fast-paced and lots of fun! Christmas Carol in 40 minutes . . . wham, bam, thank you ma’am.

Scrooge was later produced in New York City at the Lamb’s Theater in a revised and expanded two-act form.

Scrooge PhotoFred Armstrong as Scrooge. This is the Christmas Future scene, where Mr. Scrooge confronts a grave inscribed with his own name.
Scrooge PhotoRyan Williams as Jacob Marley. In this production, Marley sings a big jazz swing number warning Scrooge of his fate . . . complete with a chorus of dancing ghouls.
