One month of rehearsal and three months of performances in beautiful rural Connecticut . . . who could ask for anything more? No, No, Nanette at the Goodspeed Opera House was a major highlight of 1999 — professionally, personally and spiritually. The Nanette gang was a pretty tight bunch; we spent most of our free time together and still meet regularly in NYC for parties and events. Unfortunately, I had to “jump ship” two weeks before the end of the run to begin rehearsals for The Secret Garden, so thank goodness Ryan Migge was ready and willing to learn my ukulele part! As far as reviews go, even the New York Times liked it, and the audiences ate it up. “It wudn’t Shakespeare,” but we sure had a good time!

Goodspeed PhotoIt’s me . . . Scooter Sagamore . . . hanging out in the Men’s Dressing Room at the Goodspeed Opera House. (Yes, I made up that name.)
Goodspeed PhotoThis photo is from the Opening Night Party: Beckie King (who played BeBe Butterworth, Scooter’s main squeeze) and I danced the night away. (Yes, she made up her name, too.)
Goodspeed PhotoNanette’s Friends: the entire male and female chorus dressed in our Act III Finale costumes.
Goodspeed PhotoAt my going-away party, everyone exchanged goofy gifts. Here I am modeling Barbie Jewelry with Elise Molinelli and David Rosales.
Goodspeed PhotoEllen Harvey as Lucille Early, seductively posing with a finger lollipop. It’s green, which I think goes very well with her lilac dress.
Goodspeed PhotoUncle Gerry (Vichi) taking a nap on the Equity cot. When he was not onstage, he could often be found in this location.
Goodspeed PhotoOops, I missed!: Joel Carlton as Tom Trainor using a new and exciting makeup technique.
Goodspeed PhotoDaily Ballet Barre in the Victorian Green Room with Nili Bassman, Kim Varhola, and Elise Molinelli. You’ve gotta be in good shape if you’re going to be onstage in a bathing suit!

Goodspeed PhotoWeekly Volleyball outside the Lawton House. How many other casts do fun stuff like this???
