YOURE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN
Role: Linus
Production Info: July 21-30, 2000 @ Lycian Centre (NY)
Director: Sam Scalamoni
Choreographer: Caroline Liadakis
Music Director: Tom McDonoughThe Broadway revival of Youre a Good Man, Charlie Brown was definitely one of my favorite shows of the 1999 Broadway season. When it closed earlier than expected, little did I know that theaters around the country were gearing up to present their own productions of the new Broadway script, and that I would have the opportunity to be in one of the first regional mountings of this great little show. The Lycian Centre for the Performing Arts is a wonderful 500 seat theatre located in the town of Sugar Loaf, NY, about an hour northwest of Manhattan. Jenny Abrahams and I (fresh from playing Jan and Eugene in Grease at the Westchester Broadway Theatre) joined the remaining 6 members of the cast for 9 whirlwind days of rehearsal in NYC, followed by a too-brief 7-performance run at the theatre in Sugar Loaf. Playing the role of Linus proved to be more of an exciting challenge than I expected . . . who knew that a cartoon character could be a stretch?
