BABES IN TOYLAND
Role: Roderigo
Production: Dec. 27-29, 02 @ Stamford Center for the Arts (CT)
Music: Victor Herbert
Book/Lyrics: Glen MacDonough and Kevin Connors
Director/Choreographer: Kevin Connors
Conductor/Musical Director: Stan WietrzychowskiWho would have thought that Babes In Toyland would become my bread-and-butter show?? This holiday production at Stamfords Rich Forum Theatre marked my third trip into the world of Mother Goose and her nursery-rhyme friends, and my second appearance as Roderigo (one of Silas Barnabys evil henchmen). In this new musical-theatre adaptation of the familiar operetta, the script and score were updated to appeal to contemporary audiences. As a result, this version of Roderigo looked and sounded like the mad scientist Doc Brown from Back to the Future! With a full orchestra and clever staging, it was a fun time for the whole family!

Heres a group shot taken in between shows by our Pops, DAmbrose Boyd.
Here I am as Roderigo during our first dress rehearsal. The costume wasnt quite complete, but I was in bad-guy heaven!
Yikes! This version of Roderigo was a cross between Back to the Future and Tales from the Crypt!
Never leave home without your trusty rusty calculator (for all those last minute Toyland addition problems!)
Heres Ted Christopher (as evil Silas Barnaby) taking a quick break in the Green Room between scenes.
Heres my partner in crime: Todd L. Horman as evil henchman Gonzorgo.
This production marked my third with my good pal Amanda Ryan Paige. Here she is in the dressing room turning herself into flighty Miss Muffet.
Its shy Little Boy Blue, brought to life onstage by Oron Stenesh.
Some of Toylands strapping boys: Eric Sosa as Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater, Kevin Reed as Tom Tom the Pipers Son and Todd M. Lyon as Jack Be Nimble!
Annie Edgerton added some sass to the character of Contrary Mary; some of her one-liners had the audience falling out of their seats!
Some of Toylands beautiful ladies: Jaimie Standish as Bo Peep, Carolyn Marcell as Mother Goose and Staci Anne Jacobs as Curly Locks.
Chris Milburn added some charm to the character of Humpty Dumpty. What a great costume!
My good friend Julia Snider played Raggedy Ann in Act Two, which took place in Pops Toy Shop.
Fellow Florida State alum Danielle Grabianowski transformed herself into Old Mother Hubbard.
Heres Mary Jo Duffy as Red Riding Hood and Jaimie Standish as Bo Peep.
Well always be bosom buddies! Heres a quick pic taken in the Green Room of Amanda Ryan Paige (Miss Muffet) and me.
