Staged readings are a great opportunity to work on one of the most difficult challenges for an actor . . . creating a role from scratch. The Joys of Sex: A Naughty New Musical Revue began its life in the NYU Musical Theatre Writing Program, and I was part of the first cast to sing the full show for an invited audience. This 4-person musical humorously sends up the “ins and outs” of intimate relationships (think I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change with a kinky twist).
