WORKING
Role: John Rolfing, Brett McCormick
Production Info: Mar. 28-31 at the Lab Theatre, FSU
Director/Choreographer: James Starr
Additional Choreography: Kate Watson Gelabert and Tim Herman
Musical Director: Thomas OssowskiWorking was my last show at Florida State University. Based on Studs Turkels book of collected interviews, this show takes a look at Americas workforce through a series of monologues and songs. Due to the ensemble nature of the production, all of the actors, including myself, played a number of characters throughout the show. I had a lot of fun sharing the Newsboy number with my friend Jeff Williams. Jeff and I struggled a little bit in rehearsals with the fact that we were college seniors playing ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD newsboys, but we eventually just let go and had a blast with the song! You throw the paper in the bushes and watch the bushes go . . . SPROING! During the course of the show, I also played Brett McCormick, the supermarket bagboy. With lots of fast costume changes and many complicated musical numbers, this show was quite a workout. But we all had a great time!
