Theatre News
Heres a little collection of my favorite theatre news websites. Click on any of the logos below to visit a site that interests you.
Playbill On-Line is a comprehensive theatre news listing which is updated many times daily. If its happening in showbiz (internationally or stateside), you can usually find an article about it here.
TheaterMania.com is a mega-theatre site containing news articles, feature stories and theatrical reviews in an easy-to-use graphical interface. This site also maintains a current index of shows that are playing on- and off-Broadway, including plot summaries, ticket prices, locations and reviews.
ActorsEquity.org is the official website for the Actors Union. Here you can find a comprehensive list of upcoming Equity auditions (sometimes weeks before youll see them in other publications), Equity codes and procedures and related theatre news.
Back Stage.com is the web version of the popular New York weekly. This is THE source for audition listings, and there are often some interesting articles and theatre reviews.
Theatre People
Below is an alphabetical list of some other actors websites. Some of these are people Ive worked with, and some are people that Id LOVE to work with. Enjoy!
Theodore Bikel: The original Captain in The Sound of Music, and my Papa for 6 months on the road with Fiddler on the Roof. Hes a theatrical legend, with a website on the side!
Donna Lynne Champlin: People talk about triple threats...actors who can sing, dance AND act at the highest level. Donna Lynne is one of those! Shes made quite a splash in By Jeeves, The Dead and Hollywood Arms.
Kristin Chenoweth: Shes a Tony Award winning actress, and now shes had her own sitcom. Who said musical theatre didnt create stars anymore??? Kristin is a cutie-patootie with tons of talent (and a great website!)
James Donegan: I know him as Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater from Babes in Toyland, but hes actually one of the most fabulous tenors in the biz! He has a background in graphic design, so watch out: his website is pretty fancy!
George Dvorsky: One of the nicest men on Broadway, and now he has a website AND a CD! George and I worked together at North Shore Music Theatre, where he played Archibald in their production of The Secret Garden.
Tim Ellis: Tim and I met on the European Tour of Evita, and hes been working all over the country ever since. Check out his website to see pictures from the National Tour of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, starring Ann-Margret!
Melissa Giattino: Theres nothing I wouldnt do for my friend Melissa G! Shes one of the best tappers in New York City, and shes shown off her skills in Broadways 42nd Street as well as her own tap act.
Deborah Gibson: Deborah (formerly Debbie) has transformed herself from pop queen to theatre star and back again. This is her official website, containing news updates, images, and audio recordings.
Heather Headley: I really enjoyed watching Heather perform the role of Nala in The Lion King, but after seeing her in Aida, I was hooked! Actress, singer, and Tony Award-winner . . . shes got it all, including a great website.
Stephen Nachamie: Actor, Singer, Dancer, Director, Choreographer . . . what cant this guy do? Stephen is an old friend who directed World Goes Round at the Seven Angels Theatre. His countless Chorus Line stories could fill a book!
Meredith Patterson: Meredith and I were two of MANY actors to sublet a certain apartment on 57th Street. Shes a musical theatre actress and a recording artist, and her website is really wonderful.
Jim Poulos: From Mark Cohen in Rent to Huck Finn in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Jims career is taking off! Jim and I worked together on the premiere of the new musical Convenience at the Geva Theatre.
Jeri Sager: This beautiful lady makes quite an impression as the ugly ghost Fruma Sarah in Fiddler on the Roof, but you can see her in all her glory via her fabulous website!
Stephanie Samaras: This is the website I designed for my voice teacher, Stephanie Samaras. Shes an incredible woman with some incredible gifts: teaching, performing, and telling BAD jokes!
Ryan Shore: Composing scores for film is a job that I cant even begin to comprehend, but Ryan Shore turns heads with his ability to heighten emotion through music. His website has LOTS of song samples!
Max Von Essen: Cool, calm, and collected . . . and did I mention incredibly talented?? Thats my friend Max. Hes got a great website, full of beautiful photos from his performances in Jesus Christ Superstar, The Fantasticks and lots more!
Other Stuff
ScreamDesign: A great source for free web graphics.
htmlGEAR: Provider of free Guestbooks and other web tools.
JScript Source: Tutorials and samples of JavaScript program code.
Learn HTML in a Weekend: This book is completely 100% responsible for my HTML knowledge. If you have any interest in website programming, this is the reference for you. I highly recommend it!
Inside Adobe Photoshop 4: Limited Edition: Photoshop was one of those programs that I just couldnt figure out. This HUGE book (over 1000 pages!) changed all that. If you want to create your own web art, you cant go wrong with this one.
JavaScript for the World Wide Web, 3rd ed.: This inexpensive little reference is a great way to gain a basic understanding of JavaScript, a programming language used to spice up websites. This book helped me create the image viewing program used on this site.
