Queen Mary II, West Palm Beach and the Caribbean Cruise

Queen Mary IIOn Thursday, April 22nd, the brand-new cruise liner Queen Mary II docked in New York Harbor for the first time, causing quite a stir among tourists and residents alike! My mom and stepfather were lucky enough to win tickets for a special mini-cruise before the ship returned across the Atlantic. Here are some photos from our trip to the dock...they had a little time to kill before boarding, so we took some candids!

West Palm BeachIn 2004, my friend Vito Leanza was lucky enough to land a wonderful performing job with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, and I was lucky enough to be invited along for a (nearly) free cruise!!! Doug Mendenhall, my pal from Portland, joined me on this fun adventure, and we set off to Florida on Thursday, April 29th for a week of fun in the sun. Before boarding the boat, we stayed with my folks in West Palm Beach and paid a visit to some great places...including Palm Beach’s luxurious Breakers Hotel and the beautiful church of Bethesda-By-The-Sea. Of course, we spent some time with family, too--including trips to my grandparents’ condo in West Palm and my sister’s biology classroom in Boynton Beach! Check out the photos below:

Caribbean CruiseMay 1-May 8, 2004...the vacation of a lifetime! A wonderful Western Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas, one of the biggest cruiseships sailing the ocean! Our first port-of-call was the Bahamas and a wonderful trip to Nassau’s incredible Atlantis Resort and Aquarium. Then we visited Ocho Rios, Jamaica, where we walked up the slippery slopes of Dunn’s River Falls and took a fun river innertube adventure. Grand Cayman Island is famous for its friendly stingrays, so we made sure to take a snorkeling trip out to feed the gentle beasts. And, last but definitely not least, was our stop in Cozumel, Mexico, where Vito and I spent some one-on-one time with a gorgeous Atlantic bottlenose dolphin. In between ports, we made full use of our leisure time on the boat, eating some incredible meals, dancing the night away at the after-hours nightclub, ice-skating, using the gym, singing karaoke, sunning on the pool deck, attending parades along the full-length mall, seeing wonderful musicals...even rock-climbing! Doug and I got to see Vito in action as an improv entertainer on many different occasions, and we all made some great new friends during our week at sea (here’s a shout-out to Danny Isler and Jeff Ramsey, wherever you are!). Check out the amazing photos below!
